Welcome

Since the Scottish Rock-It-Ball Team one the World Cup back in 2007 the sport has been slowly simmering in the background waiting to be launched. Since March of last year, the sport has grown at a rate which has seen two new senior teams started in the Falkirk and Coatbridge areas, eighteen new coaches qualified to Level 2, two Scottish players coming 2nd and 3rd at the first V2 World Championships and two more Scottish players coming 4th and 9th in the V2 Youth World Championships and two new senior teams in the pipeline before the end of 2011.

Last year was huge for the sport in Scotland and if we continue to grow at the rate we have, there is no reason why we cannot retain our World Championship status in August of this year, and you can help make it happen. Start your own V2 club and help make Scotland the driving force in World Rock-It-Ball

Scottish Clubs Day - Stewarton 2012

Newly formed club, Stewarton Rock-It-Ball Club, are to host the first all Scottish Youth game on Sunday the 22nd of January 2012. The youngsters from Stewarton will take on their counterparts from UK Champions side Falkirk Cannons. This is the first outing for both teams and is sure to be a good learning experience for both teams.

As well as the youths teams playing we are hoping to have some bounce matches involving the Stewarton, Falkirk Cannons and Coatbridge Enigma. This will be a great day for Scottish Rock-It-Ball as the sport starts to expand following the senior teams historic, second successive, World Cup victory. This can only be good for the future of Rock-It-Ball in Scotland.

IRIBF UK Club Championships 2011

UK Club Championships

It has been yet another amazing weekend for Scottish Rock-It-Ball as our two top teams, the Falkirk Cannons and Coatbridge Enigma took the two top spots in the IRIBF UK Club Championships in Grangemouth. With both teams sporting players from the World Cup winning Scotland side of 2011 it was always going to be difficult for the youngsters from England.

Congratulations to both teams and especially the Falkirk Cannons for topping off a brilliant year which has seen them lift the V2 World Cup through Scott MacMichael, the Scottish Shield and now the UK Championships.

We are all looking forward to building on this years achievements with Stewarton Rock-It-Ball Club now up and running in East Ayrshire.

We will also have two new V2 clubs launched soon in Kirkcauldy, Fife at Kirkcauldy Squash & Raquet Ball Club, by Duncan Zuill and another club in the East Ayrshire area, Catrine Rock-It-Ball Club, run by John Baird.

The Scots truly are the worst kind of opponent. We learn from EVERY game and improve!!!!

Scotland's Third Rock-It-Ball Club Launched in Stewarton

On the 25th of August, East Ayrshire team, fronted by Scotland Squad member John Baird and Active Schools co-ordinator Laura Wallace, saw the formation of Scotland's third team, Stewarton Rock-It-Ball club. With John keen to launch his own club in nearby Catrine the West of Scotland, we could soon be seeing a massive upsurge of people playing the sport in the Ayrshire area.

On hand on the day were Meghan Plummer and Ryan Buckle who helped Scotland to an historic second World Cup victory in Ripon the week before.

We look forward to seeing how the sport develops in East Ayrshire and would like to congratulate everyone who has helped to make it happen.

On Sunday the 21st of August the Scottish Rock-It-Ball Team gathered in Ripon to try and repeat the feat pulled off by then SRIBA Chairman Paul MacMichael in 2007.

With four years of leagues and national team development and having thumped Scotland in Manchester in 2010, England must have been confident that they could and would win the World Cup this time round. With a Scotland team sporting some of the best players from Scotland's two Rock-It-Ball teams Falkirk Cannons and Coatbridge Enigma, the Scotland team had trained hard as they were still hurting from the bitter disappointment of Manchester.

Many of the players from that day vowed that Scotland would never again be on the end of such an embarrassing defeat. Scotland in the end ran out undefeated in all games including their exhibition game against the future of English Rock-It-Ball.

Stewarton Rock-It-Ball Club near Kilmarnock launched on Thursday andwith one other East Aryshire team in the pipeline before the end of 2011, the future of Scottish Rock-It-Ball is developing fast andit can only be good news for the National Team when we again take on who ever is brave enough to stand before us in 2015.

Congratulations to all those involved in the build up and the days performance. Truly Awesome!

Scotland's Most Capped Player Does the Treble

Scott

Having won the Scottish V2 Open earlier in the summer, Falkirk Cannon, Scott MacMichaelmust have dreamt of lifting the World V2 Trophy. Well he went one better as he helped steer Scotland to their second consecutive World Cup victory. As the only player from the 2007 team still actively involved with the sport, Scott is now Scotland's most capped player with 8 caps to his name.

A massive congratulations on an extremely successful years Rock-It-Ball.

V2 Domination

With five of the participants from Scotland's V2 Open making it into the IRIBF World V2 Championships the competition was 50% Scotland. It was obvious that the Scots were taking this world competition seriously as their supporters made the long journey south to cheer on Scotland's top V2 players.

In the end Scotland won five of the top seven spots. For full run down of the rankings visit http://www.iribf.org/

Six players from the current Scotland Squad battled it out in Scotland's first National V2 Open Championships. The top four players would progress to represent their clubs and Scotland in the World V2 Championships in August.

After many hard fought battles the tournament decider came down to the second last game between World V2 No. 3 - Tommy McGovern and 2007 World Cup Winner - Scott MacMichael. WithTommy playing his trademark close in game, long range shot where thin on the ground as the two players got in close, scoring strikes and catches galore. In the end, Falkirk Cannon, Scott MacMichael edged the game winning 93 - 90.

Scott MacMichael (Falkirk Cannons), Tommy McGovern (Coatbridge Enigma), Chris Doherty (Coatbridge Enigma) and Jonny Main (Coatbridge Enigma) will all now progress to represent club and country in the World V2 Championships on Saturday the 20th August.

Congratulations to all the competitors on an amazing display of hard, attacking V2.
